Wunderman Thompson Tokyo appoints Akira Suzuki CEO of TikTok

Wunderman Thompson Tokyo has announced the appointment of Akira Suzuki as General Manager. Suzuki joins the agency from TikTok For Business Japan, where he was director and head of global business marketing.

As a member of the management team of TikTok For Business Japan, Suzuki launched several business units, including Creative Labs, the marketing strategy team, and the B2B marketing communications team in Japan.

Before TikTok, Suzuki held both creative and strategic positions at Dentsu Japan, starting as a strategic planner in 2007, before joining the management team as creative director and leading a team of 20 creatives in 2016. That same year, he was chosen by Foreign Policy. Magazine as part of the “100 Leading Global Thinkers” alongside Hillary Clinton, Angela Merkel and Mark Zuckerberg.

According to a statement from Wunderman Thompson Tokyo, the appointment comes “at an exciting time, and as one of APAC’s youngest CEOs, his appointment reflects Wunderman Thompson’s goal to inspire growth through innovation. innovation and transformation”.
