iPhone 15 rumor: Dynamic Island is coming to all models

One of the biggest visual differentiators between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro is the dynamic island. While the iPhone 14 models retain the classic notch cutout, the iPhone 14 Pro models have adopted a new interactive Dynamic Island replacement.

Now Reliable Analyst says Ross Young that he expects Dynamic Island to come to all iPhone 15 models next year, but two other features will remain exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro…

Young is an analyst for Display Supply Chain Consultants. As such, its reports are generally based on sources and information from Apple’s supply chain. It’s proven to be extremely reliable over the past few years, exclusively reporting details on things like the MacBook Pro’s display tech, iPhone 14 Pro, and more.

In a post on Twitter today, Young wrote that Dynamic Island’s availability is expected to expand to non-Pro models of the iPhone next year. Assuming Apple keeps the same overall lineup, that would mean the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus would offer the Dynamic Island alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

On the other hand, Young says the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will not support LTPO or 120Hz display technologies. can supply only sufficient quantity of these screen panels for Pro and Pro Max models. As such, this means the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus likely won’t support ProMotion and Always-On display features.

These changes make sense when you look at the overall iPhone 14 lineup. The iPhone 14 has been criticized for its lack of year-over-year improvements over the iPhone 13. This would also impact on sales of the standard iPhone 14 as more and more buyers would opt for the iPhone 14 Pro models instead.

With the iPhone 15, Apple can keep display technologies like Always-On and ProMotion features exclusive to “Pro” models, while giving other iPhone 15 models a visual upgrade with Dynamic Island.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that he expects Apple to further increase the differentiation between iPhone models with next year’s iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. We expect at least one of the iPhone 15 Pro models to feature a new periscope lens.
