Alexandra Ford English, the daughter of Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford, was named Global Brand Merchandising Director for the Dearborn, Mich. Company on Monday.
English, 33, who already sits on the company’s board of directors, will drive sales growth for Ford-branded products.
English said on Monday that there are avid Ford fans around the world and the company is keen to provide them with merchandise and accessories.
The appointment is likely another step towards the arrival of the next generation of corporate executives to the Ford family. Bill Ford is 64 years old and is approaching retirement age.
English was elected to Ford’s board of directors in May along with Henry Ford III, son of Edsel Ford, who retired earlier this year after 33 years as a director. The two young Fords are the great-great-grandchildren of company founder Henry Ford.
English is the first female director on Ford’s board of directors. She has been Director of Corporate Strategy since March of last year. Prior to joining the company in 2017, she led P&L operations for the merchandising divisions of Tory Burch and Gap Inc., according to the automaker.
English has a BA from Stanford University in Human Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and Physiology of Human Behavior. She also holds an MBA from Harvard.
